How Vidalista Professional 20mg Works

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is mainly caused by decreased blood flow in the penis, which can occur due to several underlying causes.

Normally, in response to an external stimulus (in this case, sexual arousal, the penile erectile tissue (corpus cavernosum) releases a chemical known as nitric oxide (NO) in the surrounding tissues. NO then activates the enzyme guanylate cyclase, which acts on guanosine triphosphate (GTP) molecules and converts them to cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). cGMPs are key secondary messengers, crucial to produce an erection. As the levels of cGMP increase, the smooth muscle cells in the corpus cavernosum are relaxed, and the blood vessels in the region are dilated (vasodilation).

After a certain threshold of cGMPs in the blood, an enzyme known as phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) is released as a feedback reaction. PDE-5 is essentially a biological “off” switch in the process of erection formation. Normally, PDE-5 is released after ejaculation, or when the sexual trigger is removed. This enzyme is responsible for breaking down the cGMP molecules.
